Bookstores sell other people’s stories. They also tell the stories of the place they’re in. Bucharest's impressive Carturesti, on Strada Lipscani, tells the story of the city’s architecture. The interior has become one of the most instagrammed spots in the city. Not bad for a building that stood neglected for longer than many remember. It is a building that dates back to the latter part of the 19th century. We had 31 hours in Bucharest, and even if we weren’t a family who loves reading, I’d still encourage visitors to put Carturesti’s Old Town location as a must-see in the city. Of course, we left with bags in hand.
